Black Spots

9 year old Parrot turning black

I am wondering if anyone has experience with Parrots turning black? My Parrot's scales suddenly started turning black and it is also around her mouth. I did a water change yesterday but does not seem to have helped. She is also acting very mellow compared to normal. Thanks to anyone with any ideas or advice

Hi everyone, I've been a long time reader but just joined today. I brought my little parrot Lysander home a week ago and a few days ago he started having the black stress spots. They're all over his body, not localized to any area. I haven't had this problem with any of my other parrots. I know all of the conditions are just fine and I imagine the only thing that stressed him was bringing him home (the other fish are only playful). ...

My little parrot was a runt and was picked on in the store tank. So when he came home we put him in with cory cats and glofish. He seemed to calm down and the spots started to disappear. Then they suddenly got worse?? Any advice on how to help my little Sunbeam??? (his name is Sunbeam)

I have a pair of parrots in a 55 gallon tank.  They share the space peacefully with a green severum, two silver dollars and a pair of clown loaches.  Only one of the parrots develops black smudges all over his face and the front of his body.  It seems to be happening monthly for about a week or so, then goes back to bright orange all over.  I keep the ph neutral and check it often plus I do periodic 25% water changes and keep the filtration system clean. He does not seem to be in any distress and eats normally, whether he's black or orange.  Anyone

55 gallon tank
2 blood parrots
5 red eye tetra
4 (inch) convicts


Ammonia is 0 nitrate is 0, temp is 80. lowered from 83 because I thought the temp was causing the spotting.
The spots started on the mouth and then spread to the fins, then head and sides of the head, and are just popping up everywhere.
I did a large water change, but it didnt work. I see no aggression. All of the fish are outgoing and will eat from my hand.
Parrots are less outgoing with strangers (is that possible? they seem to hide when we have company)

I am not sure what to do

Hi everyone!

I have a year old Red Blood Parrot Cichlid. I noticed today that he has developed black spot like marks on his spine, sides and fins.

hello guys,

my parrot suddenly had more black patches in her body and i can find little red patches too in the body is it getting itches in her body or it just normal for now i dont have heater in my tank could it be bec of that?
please help me soon....

She has what looks like bruises on her body.She swims fine and eats like a pig. She was all white the size of a silver dollar when I got her three weeks ago from a local pet store.The last couple days the black has gotten worse. Also when she eats she goes crazy like she never going to eat again. Is this normal and am i just worring to much. If anyone can help me thanks. I also attached a photo of her.
