you could also try adding a full grown pleco. or another option is using algae treatment (but be careful, treat some water before adding it to the tank)

I'm surprised that the parrots would eat the pleco as they are compatible, did you see aggression? where there remains or did they just ""disappear" did you test the water at time? cut down on light, don't overfeed, try adding plants(ha ha)
