We are new to the hobby.We bought a 40 gallon established freshwater aquarium from a hobbyist. My wife fell in love with the BP so we have one and are thinking of adding a second. We have 2 Serpae tetras and 1 Tiger Barb and 2 sunset platys as tankmates. We are aware that we may be upgrading to a larger tank in a couple years but are looking forward to the beauty and enjoyment of our aquarium

I wouldn't think of adding another BP until you can upgrade but I would definitely suggest you get more tiger barbs. A single tiger barb can terrorize your your other fish being that they are agressive but in a school of at least 4 they will chase each other and pay no attention to the other fish. I'm surprised you haven't noticed any damage to your other fish.

Congrats on the new babies. Honestly, I wouldn't add another PC at this point - not until you have the larger tank55 gallon minimum for two very territorial fish that get really big would be the minimum I'd go for. Enjoy!
