Again ..

I'm confused about how big this parrot is going to get .. a lot of people are saying how big theirs are.. he is not a blood parrot i believe he's called a hybrid parrot, he's been at our pet store for three months and hasn't grown a bit his is only about an inch and a half long.. is he still going to get big ?

Most cichlids get BIG quick

Most cichlids get BIG quick and that includes the parrot and firemouth. The parrots can to be up to 10" long. You will need to upgrade your aquarium soon if you add more.

thanks

thanks for your help. no, he/she/it doesn't have a name yet, and i do have another fish with it .. a fire mouth cichlid, and they are getting along really well. i'm going to be getting another parrot fish next week.. maybe two. right now i only have a 20gal, as these are very tiny little parrotfish. i do know i'll need to buy a bigger one soon though, don't worry :) thanks again for the info!

more parrots?

I know you said don't worry,so you obviously understand that these guys need lots of room and grow fast, and I know you intend to get a bigger tank but honestly I wouldn't put any more parrots in with your exsisting parrot and firemouth until you actually have a bigger tank!

these parrots are litterally

these parrots are litterally the size of a pop bottle cap.. as is the fire mouth.. do you really not think theres room for two more of these tiny guys in a 20 gal? i have plenty of hiding spaces and all that for them, i really think they would have tons of room.

parrot size

Yeah probably, its just sometimes when people see their parrots every day , they one don't really notice them getting bigger! a bit like kids growing up, then suddenly they are all crammed into a small space! As long as you remember,30 galls for one parrot plus10 for every additional one, and each one could grow to around 5-6 inches I would guess about 6 months, you really need a 50 gal tank for that many fish, you will read this same advice again and again in many aquarium forums, providing conditions that you think your fish need and providing what they really need are two different things, just watch them and buy your tank sooner rather than later.

confused???

All blood parrots are hybrids, because of this their appearance is very individual !!I think you have a blood parrot ,also known as hybrid parrot ,bloody parrots, parrotfish(wrong) or blood parrot cichlid, a cross between a female hybrid parrot and a male pink convict is a jellybean parrot(can be dyed and come in all sorts of colours, a cross between a jellybean and a female is a dwarf blood parrot, blood parrots start off as babies a dark color and go through numerous colour changes until adult ,when their normal colours range from reddish to pale cream, colour can be introduced to market the fish by either dyeing them,or feeding colour enhancing food, in both cases the artificial colours fade eventually, unless he/she is a dwarf parrot, yes, he is going to get big once in his own tank and in better conditions than in a pet store, will need a least a thirty gall tank or 40-50 if two ,be careful about tank mates, read up everything you can, if your tank is big enough why not add another? If not add a few dither fish Has he/she got a name yet?
