10 gal is really small of a parrot. They get big quick. By the time you add a hiding place, gravel and what ever else you will want, he wont have much room. Maybe 10 gal could be used as a grow out tank for him, but plan on bigger tank in 6 months.
Im new with parrots (new to all fishy stuff for that matter), but my 5 parrots are much bigger now than they were 6 weeks ago. they are in a 55 gal with lots of room so far.

Don't feel bad, I was told by the LFS that a 15 gallon tank could easily hold 9 jellybean parrots. Some store owners just want to make the sale. I have learned a lot from this web site and everyone is friendly and very helpful. You are now in good hands. Have fun!
