upside down fish!

I have had a parrot fish for about a week and a half. Yesterday it began swimming upside down. I see it's gills and fins moving, so I know it's alive. I am concerned because it isn't swimming around, but spent yesterday at the bottom of the tank upside down, and today it is at the top of the tank upside down. I also noticed that there is some white stuff on the tips of one of the fins. Does anyone know what this means?

WATER QUALITY AMMONIA IS JUST TOO HIGH WHAT size tank do you? and how many fish are in there? or did you just set your tank up?

Sounds like your parrot may have a swim bladder problem. There is information on that topic on www.helium.com.
