my fish

Never dreamed when I bought my 2 rainbow parrot fish that they had been dyed - don't really know what to feel about this at the moment as new to the whole fish scene. My fish are yellow in colour and about 4" long with a pink forehead and then they have a pink, blue & green stripe on both sides and very pink lips - would these have been dyed also?. Must admit that I'm absolutely in love with these 2 fish though as they have such characters.

Dyed fish

Yes these BP are dyed, natural BP color are usually one solid color.

rainbow colours

In the UK most, reputable fish sellers will not stock dyed fish on principal ,they are produced mainly for the US and far east markets, thousands of fish die during the process or dyeing, only a small percentage make it to the shops,if your supplier cant say if they are dyed or not(even if the colours look natural)then look elsewhere no matter how cute they look, for a more knowledgeable supplier,if they cant sell them, they wont stock them! this is happening to all species of fish, not only parrots, and its not like there's any shortage of beautifully naturally coloured fish out there
