Why do you want to kill your
Why do you want to kill your fish.... would you kill your baby if he was not well.. why would you try it on your fish!!!
try your best to keep it alive... check for ick... If thats the case then treat for ick.
Raise temp around 85 F (Do it gradually .. do not shock the fish.. take 48 Hrs to get it upto 85 F. increase the temp every 2 hrs)
Add 2 tea spoon of salt for every 5 Gs of water (Do it gradually .. do not shock the fish.. take 48 Hrs to get it upto the desired level)
get and good med for ick and start treating...

Dying Parrot?
I read thru several posts and found one that described the SAME symptoms someone was having with 2 parrots. One 10 y/o and one, I think his name was George, a year. Turns out the younger one had ich!
So, I sent my hubby to the pet store, started ich medication, (Quick Cure), added salt as rec, turned the heat up to 80 and in just 3 hours, Leo is doing at least 50%+ better.
No need to freeze! But thanks for the suggestion. We'll know for sure in a few days if this it the cure..............sure can't make him worse, right?
Keep an eye on the ammonia
Keep an eye on the ammonia levels because I am pretty sure Quick Cure either kills or damages your biological filter. I keep my temp at 84-86F at all times and the like it.

i am sorry about your fish,
i am sorry about your fish, the pet store may be right. If you want to ease him suffering, the most humane way to let him go is to put him in a zip lock bag w/ some of his water and put him in the freezer. He won't feel a thing a promise you.
