it matters the kind of fish. the bigger the fish is or will get when grown the fewer you can have. big fish like parrots 3 in a 55 and when they are grown they really should have bigger. oscars grown 1 in a 55 and really should be 1 in a 75. angels 4 in a 55... i know this because right now i have 5 in a 55 and they need more space. small fish like barbs, dainos, tetras, livebears, cory cats... they stay smaller you can fit alot of them. hope that helps.
