As the female lays the eggs
As the female lays the eggs the male will pass over them and fertilize them.
The eggs are not fertilized internally like guppies. you can go to youtube and do a search on blood parrot breeding to see videos that show this.
the mom and dad will care for
the mom and dad will care for the babys and eggs so you should not take them away, but like chris said the oscar is most likely too young right now and i have never hear of parrots and oscars hatching eggs togther. just see what happens. when she lays her egg see if he stays with her or if she just keeps him away. if she keeps him away and attacks him all the time then they are not a pair. good luck.
Eating them?
I was just worried if the parents would eat the eggs so i was planning to get a breeding cage, do you think they'd protect them?
Cichlids are good parent so
Cichlids are good parent so they will take care of the fish. They might eat them the first time but after that they should have it down after that.
What fish are in the tank?
What fish are in the tank?
What Fish
Just a Parrot Fish and an Oscar
The parrot may lay the eggs
The parrot may lay the eggs but you won't get any fry without a male cichlid. The oscar is most likely to young to fertile the eggs because they have to be 2 years old before they mature and I'm not sure they can crossbreed with parrots. If you really want to get babies you should fine either a male jellybean parrot or a male convict cichlid.
Uh Oh
awww man, i really wanted to get some babies, im not sure how old the oscar is but its almost the same size as my adult parrot fish does that mean a thing?
Oscars in the right size tank
Oscars in the right size tank grow about an inch a month for a year so around 2 years old they should be 12-16 inches.
Fish lay eggs so you could
Fish lay eggs so you could say she full of eggs right now. The breeding tube will stick out before they spawn so it might be out for a few days. unless they is a male cichlid in the tank then you won't get any fry.
Oh Nooo
what do you means i wont get any fry, i as planning on getting a breeding cage but im not sure if when the eggs come out will they be fertilised or not so should i seperate the father from them? im sorry if these are too many question. Im clueless.
