How old do my BPs have to be to lay eggs?

I have 4 BPs and 2 are about a year and a half old and the other 2 are about 8mounths old. I havnt seen any eggs yet so i was wondering if i have all males or are they still to young to lay eggs? I know that they can't breed with eachother i just want to know if i have males/females. I heard they still lay eggs with no male around right? So if i had all girls they would still lay egg?

My new 2" one, has only been

My new 2" one, has only been in my tank a week, and is already starting to lay eggs. She paired up with my former blood parrot the 1str day in my 75G tank!! I am assumming the resident one that is 5 inches is a male.

The girls will have a small

The girls will have a small whitish bump along their belly. This egg laying tube extends when they are about to lay eggs. I have a single BP that has laid eggs 4 times since April!! So they can lay eggs even with no male. They are quite protective and defensive of the area they choose to lay them in, so be prepared for some aggressive behavior toward intruders.

This did not start until much larger than Chrisplosion's; I'd say larger than 3.5 inches.

Have fun

Mine started to breed at 2.5

Mine started to breed at 2.5 inches. They can lay eggs but not alway. I have 2 females that are always fighting over the male.
