Ok so today i got my parrot cichlid and i named it Mr.Bubbles...he's so cute! He's a baby. So i have a 10 gallon tank for now until i get a bigger one and i put some cold water in there for Mr. Bubbles and i put some pebbles on the bottom. am i supposed to put some kind of liquid like aqua safe so it makes tap water safe for the fish? and if i am supposed to put that in the water, i will get it as soon as possible! and he is really shy, he hides from me or is that normal so he could get used to his new home?and i also got a filter.

My first parrots is named Mr. Bubbles.

1. You need a heater if you don't have one, forgot to mention that but its VERY important. Summer temps are pretty good but they are gonna drop at night so you do need a heater.
2. Yes, you need to put dechlorinator in the water before you put it in the tank. I use Tetra Aqua Safe. I put the water into the bucket and then put the dechlorinator in and let it sit for 30 minutes and then put it in the tank.
3. How big is Mr. B? Do not add any more fish at all.
4. The tank needs to cycle so only change 2 gallons once a week. Never change all the water or it will kill the good bacteria.
5. Hiding is normal for new parrots.
6. How much gravel did you put in?

Mr. Bubbles isn't very that big.

Mr.Bubbles isn't very that big hes small but growing. I put in just enough gravel that you can't see the bottom from the inside of the tank, you know what i mean?

Yes you need to use a dechlorinator ASAP to remove the metals and chlorine from your water to make it safe for your new parrot.
