Comments

now that ive seen them i will

now that ive seen them i will keep looking. hopefully they will get them back in someday.

wow that flowerhorn parrot is

wow that flowerhorn parrot is great looking. sadly they dont have them. the catalog is a list of everything they have ever had not what they have instock right now. when we log in as a shop we get lists of what is instock. i have never seen that flowerparrot instock in over a year, but now that i know they are out there i will look for them every week. makes me want to try to breed them myself. i do tell ppl all the time what they should and shouldnt buy. i also let them exchange fish that have gotten to big for them for smaller fish. we are just a little family shop so we dont have anyone telling us what we can and cant do. oh and chris you would have died about 2 weeks ago someone left a huge oscar in a bucket in front of the shop before we opened. he was at least 12 inches and he was in a bucket with a pacu of almost the same size and a 9 inch channel cat. we got there to open and found them. the cat died almost right away even though we rushed him into our 240gal tank. he was almost dead in the bucket. the pacu and oscar looked bad too but i got them into a holding tank as fast as i could and in about an hour they seemed fine. later that day one of our reg customers came in and he took them home. he has told me they are doing well in his tank. ill keep a look out for the fish you asked about and if i ever see them ill let you know what they go for.

Thats good to here about the

Thats good to here about the oscar, I would have freaked out at the person who left them. I'm pretty sure they are fertile like the Jellybeans, I want one so bad. Too bad they sell tattooed and dyed parrots. http://www.petzonesd.com/product_info.php?products_id=240 This place sells them and will ship online but I called and they are out of stock. If I order from them it will cost me $90 for 2 and I'm a little cautious from ordering from them. But I love that kind so much. You should get a hold of a few and breed them for the shop, I'm sure you could get a pretty penny for them once they are colored up.

Truly beautiful fish

st franics pet shop in

st franics pet shop in navarre fl. we get our fish from 2 large fish warehouses segrestfarms and sunpet. they have drivers that pick the fish up at the wearhouse and bring them to the shops. most of the time it seems like they are packed for less then 24 hours. most make it in good shape but of course you always lose some. some are doa and they give a credit for them. i try not to mark my store up much. as i have been buying wholesale i can now see just how much most stores do markup. they make stuff up 100 sometime 200 % i dont do that most of our store is marked up 20 to 50 %. we try to keep the prices low to help ppl and make them happy.

To bad your weren't closer to

To bad your weren't closer to Sarasota and in the business when I was still in Florida. Thats good because a few things I have noticed with our local stores are they are in it for the money and not for the fish. One place near me, the owner knowingly sold me a deformed (had a messed up spine) Uaru at full price only to have it die on my 2 days later. You have to be polite as possible and not to in your face about stuff. Like if you say oh I won't sell you an oscar because your tank is to small, they will just goto Petco and say they have a larger tank and buy the fish for the same price or less.

The Segrest Farms has Flowerhorn Parrots, I want one or two of those so bad but no one in Oregon carries them.
Segrest Farms SKU: 19431 http://www.segrestfarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.search
If you were to order them from there as a store how much would they be?

I wish I was in florida.

I wish I was in florida. That Parrot Flowerhorn is beautiful! But I can't order to ship, it's too costly...

I don't understand what you

I don't understand what you mean by that. Do you have a shop as well or something?

hummm I thought I replied

hummm I thought I replied earlier but my reply is not here... well, if you see two replies it's because the first one didn't show and I replied again...

Sorry I must've misunderstood your comment. I thought you were saying that the site you linked to was a retail store in florida that sells on-line also, And I was saying that if I lived in florida, I'd go in person to purchase one of those beautiful flowerhorn/Parrot. And that I wouldn't be able to order them on-line because of the prohibitive shipping cost for live stock (well, I can't afford it right now anyway but maybe one day later when I'm off unemployment)

See how I confuse others when I'm confused... I apologize.

The link is a to a fish

The link is a to a fish wholesaler who supplies femacle1 with fish for her shop in Florida.

This place http://www.petzonesd.com/product_info.php?products_id=240 is a store in California that also sells online and I am thinking of ordering 1 or 2 from them. If I get 1 with overnight shipping its gonna cost me about $65 and if I order 2 its gonna cost me almost $100. I could order them with 2-3 day shipping but I wouldn't want to risk it or put them through the stress. I'm an unemployed 18 out of high school and thats a lot of money to me. I think I might get one and hope that its a male so I can breed them.

Right... I wouldn't be able

Right... I wouldn't be able to buy from a wholesaler...

See? The kirin parrot is only $24.99 according to the video in the link but the shipping is $65... that's what bothers me. I mean I would never put them through the time it takes for regular priority mail 2-3 days shipping, but the express shipping is just too much for me to afford right now.
Did you notice that those hybrids has a lot of variation in the way they look? Some of them looks like flowerhorns and some of them looks like bps with nice markings.
I like this one I found on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_Y8lzyXWgg&feature=related
He looks like a regular BP in body shape and face, which I prefer, with the nice coloration and markings of the flowerhorn. Very very nice...

Well, one day when I'm working again, I'll be able to order a few...

For me the Overnight is $40

For me the Overnight is $40 and the Parrot is $25 coming out to be $65. I noticed that to, I want one that has the Flowerhorn spot lines like this http://www.tropaq.com/photo/parrotkirin.jpg. But I would be happy with any. For the same price with 1 with overnight, I could get 2 with 2-3 days. I live in the state above where they are but I still wouldn't want to risk it.

Oh that's a VERY nice one

Oh that's a VERY nice one too... Just out of curiosity to see if there's anyone in my town selling Kririn parrots, I googled Kirin Parrots in NYC and it didn't come up with any retail stores that carries them but I saw that I missed a great opportunity last year. Someone on the Monster fish forum was selling 4 Red Bps and 2 Kirin parrots, all for $50. He was switching to saltwater and wanted to get rid of what he had... and he was within driving distance. Missed opportunity, I don't know how I didn't find that post last year as I've been interested in Kirins for a while and searched for them once in a while...

Oh well, back to waiting until I find work... :(

You would have a better

You would have a better change in NYC than I do because I'm in small city and we only have 2 good LFS and I have to drive an hour away to goto Eugene, OR to get to them. I have asked all around if they have them or have ever carried them and they looked at me as if I was crazy.

I called the owner of Petzone and they said they don't have them and I think they said they won't carry them anymore. Hard to understand because he had a strong asian accent. So much from ordering from them now.

I can walk into Petco and tell them I want to order flowerhorn and they can get some shipped there I can buy. The manager told me they were $12 so I think I will order 2 from them. I think I might try my hand at creating them. I know I have one female and suspect I have another.

Hey, if you can't buy them,

Hey, if you can't buy them, create them, right? That's great that Petco would do special orders for you. And $12 is not bad at all. I hope they do breed for you. Let us know how it goes!

As for me... I just had a thought. We have 1 local aquarium fish store here that is not a chain store. I think I'll visit them and see if they'd be able to locate a Kirin Parrot for me...

I have to come back in a few

I have to come back in a few days because the manager isn't there today or tomorrow. Good luck in your search.

Thanks!!!

Thanks!!!

Oh sorry I must've

Oh sorry I must've misunderstood. I thought that the site you linked to was a retail store in Florida that does mail orders and I was saying I wouldn't be able order from them because the shipping cost is prohibitive (for me, for right now, anyway). And if I were in Florida, I'd be able to purchase the Flowerhorn/BP cross in person.
See how I confuse people when I'm confused? I apologize.

boy, maybe i should charge

boy, maybe i should charge more at my shop. i sell parrots for 8.99 and they are orange and i have been getting undyed jellybeans and selling them for just 6.99. some of them still have baby color but some are yellow now. none have turned orange yet though. i do have 3 large parrots that i want more for but my reg size seem to be less then everyone else.

Walmart sells 1-2" orange for

Walmart sells 1-2" orange for $15
Petcos sells 1-2" orange for $17
Petsmart sell 1-2" baby for $10 and 2.5-3.5" orange for $25
LFS Pet Time sells 2"-3" orange for $18
LFS Aqua Serene sells 2" orange for $20 and Jellybeans for $16

femacle1, whats your store called and where is it located? I am rather curious as to how the whole set up works, like how do you get your fish?

This is what I have

This is what I have seen:
Blood parrots $15-30 $10 for juvies not yet color (usually brown)
Jellybeans (convicts parrots) $10-$16 $20 for dyed

Jellybeans are usually dyed and if they are not they look more like pink convicts and thats why they are cheaper. I have seen Petsmart sell brown juvies for $10 because they haven't grown into their orange color yet. If you see parrots under or around an inch they have been given hormones to bring out their adult orange color. The brown eventually turn orange but its takes awhile. I got a brown one that that urned black after I got her and now after 4 months she is finally turning orange. You can she her in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RuGYvAH-3k
