OK so i know i have been posting a lot og questions but i have a lot of them. So i am going to put more then one in this post. Here is the genral info...
5BPs-2 are 3-4inches and 3 are 2-3ish inches I have a 60 gallon tank. Yes i know i will need a bigger one i the future but they are not all thay big yet and there is plenty of room. I have 1 angel that is done growing and she is very small about medium to small sized both parents were small. I have 2 pleco, 1 clow louch, and a bottom feeder that i can't remember the name of. Oh and 2 rosey barbs.
Q.1
Ok so i have heard people talking about the V shaped and the U shaped to tell if it is male or female but i can't tell the differance. I know some are longer then otheres does that mean anything? And the i have heard about rounded fins is always a girl but pointed could be either.
Q.2
I know they are shy fish but is it normal for my fish to hide constently hiding behind the filter?
Q.3 I have 5 BPs and i i happen to have 2 girls and 2 boys and they pair up do you think the last one will feel lonley? Or will they all hang out togeather?
Q.4 can my smaller just starting to chage BPs pair up with my bigger already changed BPs or will they wait till they are both the same color?
Q.5 Will females still lay eggs even if a male isnt there?
Okay this is it for now but i may have some more that i can't think of and i will add them later. And sorry for all the questions i just want to have happy fish!
I can try to get pictures if you need them i just have to find my camara fisrt.

Q1. It's really hard to tell
Q1. It's really hard to tell unless they're spawning. When they are ready to lay eggs, you'll be able to see clearly, the difference. But at that point, you'll know who's who since you'll see the female laying eggs anyway. As far as I can tell, the female has a blunt end that looks like a tube and it gets bigger when they're ready to mate. The male's organ comes to a point, like the end of a sharp pencil.
Q2. Well they hide when the water's no good, they hide when they're afraid of something in the tank, they hide if they're afraid of you, they hide when they're sick, they hide when they feel insecure. They'll come out when they feel all is well.
Q3. From my experience, so not saying this is the case for all BPs in the world, once he had a mate, he stayed with her, and they ganged up on the other tank inhabitants. I did not see them hanging out with the other BPs anymore, they kept to them selves. BUT they were not overly mean, so your lone left-over BP would not be in danger but from my experience, your lone BP will be a lone BP.
Q4. That all depends on how old your little one is. He could be older but just retaining his juvenile colors longer than usual. So if he's old enough, he can pair up with a bigger one. It's not really the color, it's the age. My BP was half black until about 8 years old. Then went all orange little by little. He still has some black spots on his fins.
Q5. yes
Hope this helps.
