Re: What factors would make the PH drop?
do you have any peat moss or wood in your tank they can make your ph go down. 6 is a little low for parrots. they can live in a wide range but 6 does seem low for them to me. you can add a piece of coral rock to bring it up a little with out the chems. coral rock is dry base rock for a salt water tank. you dont want live because it will just die in the fresh water and make a mess but dry rock works well. also if you can find cichlid gravel at you pet shop you could add some of that. it will also help yoour ph go up some. dont put alot though to much and it might get very high. good luck.
Re: What factors would make the PH drop?
its not that they like it,but they cant stand it. there not very perticular about ph. im not sure what happened, but its not super low. i wouldnt worry. and there r alot of reasons 4 a bp to be pale. temp, lighting, breeding, being a dominant male. as long as there healthy , eating, and acting normal i wouldnt worry to much. and ur right i wouldnt use the ph chems. they only work temporarily and can be harmful.
