Adding sand to my aquarium

I am thinking about adding sand to my aquarium with my BP's. I need some suggestion's as to add this to the tank that already has gravel in it. Also should I remove the fish so I do not stress them. I just changed my 10G with 4 guppies to sand and the water is still cloudy a bit. Maybe it will be cleared by tomorrow morning. Any help with this is great. And yes the sand is drained of all the dirt floating on top. But I didn't do it as long for my 10G so maybe that is why it is still cloudy a bit.

u really dont want to add sand with bps. they like to pick food from the bottom and if (or when) they eat the sand it will probably kill them.
