Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
OK so final count is 6 small tiger barbs 2 suckers, 2 parrots and a convict... I hope that this is alright, as I got the advise from an employee from the aquarium place. the tiger barbs are sooooo cute.
Re: Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
i already got ya! :)
Re: Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
yeah that sounds like a good line up for a 55. this will give your BP's and convict time to grow so that when you do get the 100 tank you will have a pretty wide selection of other fish to add to the tank. once they become full grown BP's and convicts can hold their own with most other CA/SA cichlids so with a 100 gallon tank you have a huge set of options for what to add.
Re: Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
ul be ok,just get that huge tank! :) ul need it, and ul be sooo happy with it! i wish i could have a tank that big,but i live in a tiny apartment :( a 55 is the best i can do but i love it :) good luck!!! i hope everyone likes each other
Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
The bubble gum are not parrots. I think they are closer to albino convicts. I just spoke with our Mr. Aquarium and I am going to take back 2 bubble gums and female convict. I would like to keep a convict to have someone to maybe fertilize eggs. What do you think? that would be 1 convict, 2 parrots, 2 suckers, and maybe a couple little tetras for play. I know for a fact that in february I will be upgrading to 100+gal tank. will this be enough space for them until then?
my parrots are not aggressive at all. I have a small glass fish that has been in with them since day one. I tried to move him to my turtle tank, but he is a quick lil fish!
Re: Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
yes ul have enough space for just those if u plan on getting that BIG tank :) i really hope u do, everyone will be very happy in that!
Re: Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
how big is ur tank again?
Re: Re: Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
It says 55 at the top.
Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
jellybeans probably refers to either dyed parrots or a BP-Convict hybrid. a BP female with a male con produces what is referred to as jelly beans cichlids.
i would agree that the tank will get way too cramped within a few months and would require lots of water changes too. your best bet in my opinion would be to return all of the new fish that you picked up and just keep your original 2 BP's. they would do very well in a 55 gallon tank and you could add some non-territorial dither fish like danios or tetras to give your tank some added activity.
Re: My new babies! Jelly and Bean
Welcome to the site. You might be a bit cramped later on. You could keep the "bubble gum" parrots and the red parrots but you won't have room for the convicts down the road. I'm pretty sure your bubblegums are Jellybean parrots and if they are not red/orange then they were dyed, its a horrible process. They should get around 6" for the Jellybeans and the convicts, and the regular parrot can get to around 8".
