Happens to mine too
I have 2 young BPs...Had them for 6 days now.
The bigger one is always bullying the smaller one.
I have 2 hiding places and the bigger one is likes to chase the smaller one out and claim it as his own...
I did put a plant plant as a separator between the 2 hiding places, but it doesnt help,
Big one likes to swim and hiding in both places and chase the small one out where ever he is!
Hope they will come to peace soon!
Re: Happens to mine too
sometimes it can take weeks 4 them to get used to each other and come to an agreement :) it sucks to have to watch that happening though, thats exactly what happened w/ mine when i got them. and i dont know what kind of plant set up u put in the middle of the tank, but they need to not really be able to see each other (sometimes aquarium plants r to little and thin to acomplish that). or sometimes u can use a piece of slate or driftwood (thoroughly cleaned) w/ the plants. its just a buffer till they get used to each other.they will still follow each other around, but the little guy has a place to go when it gets bad. sometimes though it might not work, but its the best thing to try. that and changing decor around. hope it all works out! just give it time, it could take 4-5 weeks. let us know :)
Re: Happens to mine too
I introduced a new parrot in to the tank and the resident parrots finally starting to calm down. Mine kind of play musical chair with the hiding spots, the new one would go into a spot and the resident one would take it and then it would go on and on. It may take a few week or a few days.
Re: Territorial Issues, HELP! :(
i agree w/ peanut. when mine were bullying each other i put up a bunch of tall thick plants in the middle thinking they would pick sides. they didnt ,but the bullying calmed down. and sometimes it can take some weeks for them to get used to each other. i went to wal marts craft section and got some fake plant peices there (its cheaper) they have wire in the middle and i just bent the ends to fit under some decor i had to keep it in place. it worked 4 me :) good luck and give it some time. i was ready to take my bully back, but i was given the advice on here to wait it out for a couple more weeks so i did. and im soooo glad because now they love each other and even have learned to share the bullys favorite teapot!!!
Re: Territorial Issues, HELP! :(
Maybe you could try moving all of the decor around and adding a tall plant to the middle of the tank. That way it will be harder for the bully to see the little guy. If he can't see him, he won't bully him.
By moving the decor around, maybe the desirable hiding place won't be so desirable anymore and they each can have their own space.
