Check out these pics from another user. Looks something like your new little fish.

Yes. Fish will flash when water conditons are great. It's irritating the skin.

It may not be a bad idea to add Aquarium salt to the tank while it's cycling to keep the parasites away. It will also help the gill funtion and slime coating which are both affected by poor water conditions. You can put in 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons.

The tank looks great!!! Love your choices in habitants:)

Re: Re: My 55 gallon

I always put salt in the tank. Piglet doesn't like the new parrot Butters. But hopefully they will soon get along. I'm gonna go buy some more decor so that might help.

Re: Re: Re: My 55 gallon

mine hated each other at first, now there in love ;)

"rescued" a parrot.

Every weekend for the last month I have gone to Walmart and noticed the same baby parrot in the tanks. He is the only one in the tank and so I decided to "rescue" him because today I noticed he was getting stress spots and might be getting ick. So instead of letting some drug addict buy him and let him die from the ick and stress, I got him and am treating him now. He/she is about the size of a quarter, only a baby. I told myself I go back there and hes still there I would buy him and I did.

Re: "rescued" a parrot.

thats sweet of u ;) how many do u have now?

Re: Re: "rescued" a parrot.

I have 3 Blood Red Parrots, and one Blood Parrot which looks more like a convict.

Re: Re: Re: "rescued" a parrot.

he'll change im sure

Re: Re: Re: Re: "rescued" a parrot.

I'm doubtful but we'll see. The new baby parrot is about 1/3 its size and even it is orange. I'll upload some pics later.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: "rescued" a parrot.

i know but sometimes it takes awhile. i saw one at the fish store that was as big as my female parrot ( whos orange) ( about 3 in long) and it looked just like a convict! u could tell it was just starting to change colors in some spots. its really amazing how they can turn from grey w/ strips to orange :) and even if he doesnt ever change ( which i think is unlikely) ul have a unique parrot!

Re: My 55 gallon

Looks good to me. Why would anyone criticize?

Re: Re: My 55 gallon

Because I din't cycle before I put the fish in. Also I have overstocked it according to some people.

Re: My 55 gallon

nice tank! looks very peaceful (aside from the pictus;) at least hes active. very cool! i wish i had a way to post my tank :(

Re: Re: My 55 gallon

If you have a webcam there is a recording program you can use. Its how I record mine because my camera's video quality sucks.

Re: Re: Re: My 55 gallon

i dont have a webcam and my camera broke. i have a phone with video, but its awful quality :(((

Re: Re: Re: Re: My 55 gallon

Oh well. I noticed that Piglet will still hide but the new unknown breed parrot, who I named Butters, doesn't like to hide.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: My 55 gallon

im sure it will work itself out :) im still also sure that the new one is just young and hasnt turned orange yet.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: My 55 gallon

I kinda hope that's not the case because I wouldn't mind a different kind of parrot. I saw a baby parrot that was orange and about the size of a quater, so cute. I see no spots but there has been some flashing with a couple of the fish. If water quality isn't good will fish flash? I see no signs of ich. My ammonia was about 2.0 and then I got it down to about 0.5. I will change more tomorrow, changed about 18 gallons today.
