30 gal bow front tank

I have had my tank for several years now, but I am looking for a new type of fish to get involved with. I currently have an angelfish with two angel rams and a rainbow shark. I have been visiting my favorite local fish store weekly waiting for something to spark some interest. The last several times I visited, I have been drawn to the Blood Parrots. Im looking for some information on what would be good to put together in my tank starting with a BP. Thanks for any information you can provide. I'm weighing my options before I invest in starting a new tank.

I am just curious how blood

I am just curious how blood parrots are so common if all the males are sterile? how do the procreate? This doesn't make sense to me. I'm wondering if its just a rumor being spread by anti parrot people to make people not want to breed them. If someone could clear this up for me it would be great.
I'm also curious of the different types of cichlids that bps can breed with. Ive heard of convicts, severums, flowerhorns, green terrors. Id just like to know if anyone has actually successfully bred any other types of cichlids with bps or these types.

Well, I bought one small one today. He has a little bit of black on his fins, but his body is fully orange. Maybe 2 inches from mouth to tail fin. so far so good. he has been fighting with his tank mates a little to establish territory, hopefully they will all get along in the days to come.

Tetras

I have a small BP ( for now ) & a pleco in my 30 gallon.I was told the 3 large tetras could be added. Tiger barbs were mentioned. I like those.

Right now I am staying with the 30 gal. I hope to buy a larger tank down the road, but not in the immediate future. I was honestly hoping that I could add one BP for now and then if some space in my tank clears add one more BP. All the fish in my tank are pretty small in size and I have thought about giving the angelfish away to open up space.

yeah, if u want a bp open up some space, give away the angel to a good home. but only get 1 with a 30 gallon. if u get more then ur just asking 4 trouble when they get big. with fighting,and stess.

i would think that if u were able to give away ur angel :( u would have room 4 1 bp. i only have 2 in a 55 gallon and they get big! they also get very stressed if theres not enough space with 2 much compitition 4 territory w/ other fish. im glad ur doing research on this before getting them though, so many people dont (me included when i first started) and they end up having to do alot of fish swapping. which is hard on us and very stressful 4 them. so i would say that u could have 1 in a 30 gal, and if u ever get a bigger tank u could add more. u just always want to plan on how big the fish is gonna get when they reach there full size before u buy,and these guys can get 7-8''in or more!

What if I get two anyhow and move then into the new 75 gallon tank when I purchase it. Im leaning in this direction, hopefully buying a 75 some time this summer, before June

u can do that if the parrots r still small and u know u will get a bigger tank. if there bigger then they might fight and get stressed out. just get small ones and u should be ok till u get ur big 75 gal. just make sure u get it asap :) and set up hiding places 4 both of them. also u will have to do water changes very often with 2 in that space,but it should b ok 4 a couple months. good luck! ul love them

well first, r u starting a new tank or looking to put more fish in the 30 gallon? cause its seems u have enough 4 that one. bps need at least 30 gallons 4 1 then 10 gallons 4 every additional 1 u have. and if ur getting a new tank, what size r u thinking?
