eggs
do a small water change and remove the eggs, she will be okay and a water and little clean of the decor will have her interested in selecting a new spot to lay again(or if youwant ,just vac the eggs up),some females(inc mine) hardly eat at all when guarding eggs caurse they dont want to leave them to eat, normal healthy behavior, sometimes they eat them, sometimes they dont
Re: Eggs
Thanks so much for your reply.
I decided to remove the eggs last evening as I didn't want disease in the tank. My female was very aggressive, no surprise. Her eggs were on the inside wall of her cave, so it had to be removed and cleaned.
I had to hold her off with a large net and my husband removed the cave. We have never had any fear of her, but she was doing her best to do damage to anything that wasn't supposed to be there. This worked well and no one was hurt. :)
After it was done, and she slowly calmed down, she started showing signs of my sweetie again. She was eating within a few hours. She also was getting back her color.
This morning she is more as she was before she had eggs. She has an appetite back too. She even likes me again. We are not quite back to she adores me again.
I can't believe the personality of these fish. They are smart, sweet and let you know they love you. They are wonderful to watch, they love to redecorate.
I was concerned this egg laying would disturb our connection, as she was a killer when she laid the eggs. Poor girl, I hate that she has to go thru all this with nothing to show for it. Not that I want baby fish. She has such strong maternal drive. I thought she would kill the catfish in with her, they learned quickly.
Thanks again!
