Re: Transfer some fish
your tiger barbs and tetras can go in the 12 gal. i wouldnt put more then that in a 12 gal. your gold fish need to be alone and they need alot of room. you should only have 4 gold fish in 55 gals of water. that is 4 alone not 4 and other fish. most fish cant deal with the amount of waste gold fish make and it kills them so you should not mix them.
overcrowding
i agree that you are way overstocked, cant add to the excellent advice given
Re: Transfer some fish
First find the Bala Sharks new homes. Your tank isn't big enough. They need 100gal+. They get huge and need very large long tanks. Secondly a 12 gal tank isn't big enough for any of the fish you have. A 12gal is good for guppies or a beta and thats about it. Your 2nd tank either needs to be bigger or you should find new homes for some of the fish. Another thing, what kind of pleco do you have? If it is a common pleco that is another fish you need to find a new home for. A Common pleco grows to be 2 feet long. You might be able to get away with putting the tetras and the goldfish in the 12gal but then again this are fish that you aren't supposed to mix because one is cold water and the other is a warm water fish. You really need to research your fish before you buy. I suggest you visit www.badmanstropicalfish.com This site will help you with proper tank size for the different types of fish and there is also a section where you can submit your tank to have it evaluated to see if you are overstocked and to see if you have compatible fish.
