Hi everyone! I know its been awhile since I've been on and I just wanted to let everyone know that my BP's are doing good. They got a new 40g as their Christmas present and as I was moving them into it, they swam around good for a little while and then Tang (the bigger one) started to act weird and lay around on his side at the bottom on some fake plants. I called the pet store, I couldn't take them in because the pet store is over an hour away but is the closest that I trust takes care of their animals and understands what they are doing, and they told me that since everything was good on the water that sometimes when bigger specimens are transported to a new tank that they will 'pout' like a new born puppy. I had never heard of this and now two days later he is moving around to eat but stays at the top leaning sort of / like. He spars his fins out when Nemo (the smaller of the two) comes up to him. Thanks for all advice!

Re: BP Pouting Like A Puppy Dog?
Sounds like shock to me too. It took my BP's a few days to get used to their new tank. The one BP is especially sensitive. One night my filters both quit working and when I woke up, the one BP was floating upsidedown on the bottom of the tank. I almost had a heart attack and quickly got the filters going, did a water change and added a bubble wall to help get the oxygen going in the tank again. It took him about an hour to start swimming upright again with the encouragment of his pal BP. Over the next few days, he'd have peroids where he seemed fine and some when he'd just kinda lay on the bottom of the tank semi upright like he was trying to recover by taking a nap or something. The last thing I would do if I were you is to subject your fish to the stress of moving him again which is probably why he's acting the way he is. Give him a couple days to adjust to his new surroundings. These fish have real personalities and some of them are more dramatic than others when it comes to stress. As long as your other fishies seem fine, I wouldn't worry too much.
Re: BP Pouting Like A Puppy Dog?
Everything is the same, Nemo (smaller) has been running up along side Tang and nudging him with his nose. Not like a bite but just a sort of gentle push. I have stress coat in the tank with them and some Marcel parasite remover just in case anything slipped through.
Re: BP Pouting Like A Puppy Dog?
I've never heard of them pouting either. hmmmm, could it just be stress from moving to a new tank? Is the ph the same in the new tank as it was in the old tank? It kind of sounds like shock to me.
