Blood Parrot Agression

I have two blood parrots of similar size.  One in a 20 gallon that I have had since July, another slightly smaller juvenile that I have had since October who is living in my 55 gallon community tank.  I finally got around to putting my older BP into the 55 gallon tank only to find constant fighting. From the moment the bps saw each other through the plastic bag, they started attacking each other. I was changing the water and moving around all the plants and other decor around prior to releasing the older one into the tank. I shut the lights and the next morning, my older BP was still following the other BP around, even into it's hiding places and ramming it.

Does anyone else have this kind of experience or any suggestion on what I can do?  Is it too late for them to just get along?  I have heard that they do get more agressive if they are not introduced together when they are younger.

Re: Blood Parrot Agression

the older BP is establishing dominance over the smaller and younger one. once the pecking order is set the aggression should calm down. give it a week or two. if you see it stil continuing or if one BP is getting bullied too severely (i.e. he is not eating or is floating in a corner of the tank) then you might have to separate them. just keep a close watch and be ready to separate if necessary but i do not think this will probably be the case. it could also be mating behavior.
