I everyone, I have a 10 gallon tank at home. I initially bought two
blood parrots cichlids. I fed them once a day in the mornings usually.
They went crazy after the food eating every time. The water was clean,
temperature around 78. Filter worked perfect and they had little rocks
at the bottom of the tank and a couple real plants and a boat. I never
seen them fight, although some times I've seen them push each other but
nothing big. They had no marks or anything. One is orange and one is a
little lighter.. The day before yesterday they stopped eating. I would feed them but they just would not eat. I noticed they were weak I got one with the little scoop and let him go and he fell to the bottom of the tank. Yesterday one died.. and today the other one died. I
don't know why this happen. If someone can please help me figure out
what went wrong. I don't want to buy another parrot until i find out
whats wrong with the tank just in case, Help!

Re: HELP
I have to agree with everyone else. Sorry you learnt the hard way but fish need to be able to swim and not be crammed in. Im sure they died from poor water quality and the tank not being big enough. If you save up for a bigger tank then you can get a parrot. Sorry you lost them!
10 GALLON TANK
THAT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BIG ENOUGH ONE BP NEEDS 30 GALLONS AND TWO I THINK SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST GALLONS SO I AGREE WITH JERSEY GIANT 88 SO GET A GALLON OR BIGGER.
Re: HELP
Thank you so much everyone.
Re: HELP
Big M is correct. a 10 gallon is too small for a blood parrot, but is perfect for a small community tank :)
Community tanks can be fun. i have 5 tanks in my whole house. one for my BPS, a 30 gallon planted community, a 50 gallon with a oscar in there, 32 gallon with nothing in it right now, and a small 10 gallon community. i have a dwarf gourami, and 4 neon tetras in there. i know it doesnt sound great, but its looks great! planted communitys are the best looking tanks (to me at least) you should try that instead of another BP in a 10 gallon.
Re: Help
I agree 10 gallons is too small for even 1 fish. How long did you have them? Did you cycle the tank first? I think it was the poor water quality. When you tested the water what were the parameters? Clean and clear water doesn't mean fish quality water. I know a larger tank can be expensive but BP's are worth it. They require abit more care then some but once you've got the set up it's cake. They have so much personality for a fish! Keep the 10 gallon for a nice community tank....
Re: HELP
your tank is too small and they probably died due to poor water quality and the high stress of living in such tight quarters. 1 BP needs at least 30 gallons to himself (and that is really the bare minimum) with about 10-15 more gallons per additional fish. do not get any more BP's until you get a bigger tank. there are plenty of types of fish that can go into a 10 gallon, BP's are definitely not one of them.
