Re: Please Help Out
I agree, it is horrible places dye fish. Some even take the fish out of the water and dye them with a needle. I don't know if this is true but when they dye fish they strip a coating off their skin and then dip them in this solution. I've even seen dyed tropical fish.
Re: Re: Please Help Out
thats true, they strip there natural slime coat off with chemicals so the color will stick. so it leaves the fish open to all kinds of illnesses. plus like everyone else said, the color wears off anyway. there r soooo many naturally beautiful, colorful fish of all kinds. theres no need for dying or buying dyed fish.
Re: Dyed Fish
I agree with both other posters. I purchased an orange and yellow BP both are "natural" I saw this beautiful blue parrot at the LFS and bought that one too knowing nothing about the fish before I got them. I'm an example of buy now research later (and oh what research there's been). Well my natural fish are today happy healthy and spawning the beautiful blue fish is in fishy heaven. He had swim bladder problems and eventually lost some of his color stopped eating and died. The process they use to dye these fish is cruel and unnecessary as they are beautiful on there own. They range from yellow, orange pink and red all on there own. I regret buying the blue one and contributing to the pain and suffering (yes fish suffer) of the dyed fish. Please don't do it.
Re: Please Help Out
i second what Shaz said...plus the dye fades within a few months and all you are left with is a discolored fish with tons of health problems that will never live up to its full potential.
dyed fish
ABSOLUTLEY NOT!!!! THE PROBLEM OF DYED FISH APPLIES TO ALL SORTS OF FISH, NOT JUST PARROTS, THE COLOUR OF A BLOOD PARROT IS ORANGE OR SHADES OF ORANGE , WHEN YOUNG THEY ARE A GREENISH, GREYISH COLOUR WITH BARS WHICH SLOWLY DISSAPEAR,ANY OTHER COLOUR IS LIKELY TO BE DYED, DONT BELIEVE IT IF THEY TELL YOU THAT THEY HAVE BEEN FED COLOUR ENHANCING FOODS, THOUSANDS OF FISH DIE FROM THIS PROCESS EVERY YEAR,AND NEVER MAKE IT TO THE SHOPS, IT INVOVES MULTIPLE INJECTIONS(EQUAL TO INJECTING A HUMAN WITH A NEEDLE THE SIZE OF A PENCIL)THE DYE DISSAPATES OVER MONTHS, OFTEN LEAVING THE FISH WITH LONG TERM HEALTH PROBLEMS AND A SHORTER LIFE SPAN, AND WORRIED OWNERS WHO THINK THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG CAUSE THE COLOUR IS FADING, SOMETIMES THE FISH ARE LASERED, PLEASE TYPE "DYED" INTO OUR SEARCH BOX AND READ UP, THERE ARE ALSO PETITIONS ALL OVER THE NET, PRACTICAL FISHKEEPING HAVE ONE ,THEY CAN ALSO TELL YOU OF LFS IN YOUR AREA WHICH STATE NOT TO SELL DYED FISH, PS JUST A THOUGHT IF YOU ARE THINKING OF ADDING ANOTHER PARROT, THEY GROW BIG FAST,ONE PARROT SHOULD HAVE A MINIMUM OF 30 GALLS, WITH ANOTHER 10 GALLS FOR EVERYONE ADDED, HAVE FUN!!!
