Meet Nevaeh(naenae)

Iam so happy tp have found this site!I'm brand new to the whole fish thing n need all the help I can get. I never believed I would become attached to ant fish, I have nevee had an intrest in them.I stopped ibto a small mom n pop fish shop to buy a cheao tank for my daughters bearded dragon n decided to brows while I waited for assistance.it was love at first for her lol.another customer pointed her out n said that fish really likes you, every time you get close it does flips and follows back n forth in her tank. I thought yeah right, but went to have a closer look at my admirer. I had no clue to what I was looking at,but staring straight nack at me was this very beautiful, very large bright orange with just a hint of pink fish. And she was without a doubt trying to get my attention, even putting her whole head out of the water. I was very impressed with how smart she seemed to be, not to mention all the cute flips and circles she did each time I got near her tank! I even had a couple others go n talk to her to see if it really was me she was showing off for, and she did respond to them talking to her n tapping on the glass it was nowhere near the reactions she gave me.she really seemed to be excited to see me even Happy! So for the very first time I wanted this beautful fish with big pouty lips I should have taken some time to investigate this fish and what was truely needed to care for her correctly.but I didn't want to take the chance that somebody else would snap her up before me and I wrongfully assumed the store owner knew everything I would need to know about my new baby.boy was I clueless! She told me she was a good non aggresive community fish, that a 30gal tank was all I would need for her and 4 tank buddies. So that's what I bought, she left out that with a new tank set uo I might need to let it run a few days before putting her in or any others. Told me that she would also need live feeder fish to eat and pellets.left out that I needed to treat the tap water she said I could use safely and I would only need to do partialchanges monthly! I am so amazed that I didn't kull her or the others that first month! I won't even tell you the amount of money I spent in that shop so I could take her home with me. I also had a angel fish,a tiny little purple parrot she sold me for only 10 dol(40 dol at petsmart) a texas cichlid,a port cichlid, 6 tiny feeder gold fish a algea eatter and 3 little stow aways that were in her tank for her to eat. They were so small we didn't notice them ib the tank for hours, thet turned out to be 2 jewled cichlids and a convict. They were feeding her babies that she had to many of how cruel! She also hated parrots said they were man made freaks of nature! I love my freak! Antways because of my rushing n stupidity several of my lil guys didn't make it I felt so bad! Pet smart n pet co weren't much more help either and would tell me totally opposite things to do always competing when all I needed was help!so any helo or advise is geeatly appreciated.this is to long so let me summerize current status 55 gal tank,1 big bp,1 jewel,1 texas,17convict gave survived me and my local pet store exoerts lol! I will post pics of Naebae so far she is still the biggest bp I have seen!! I would love to know how old she really is n how do I find out? What about underground filters do they work better? Also need diet advice plez help.hope to hear from someone soon!

did you say 17 convict? you only need the BP, and texas cichlid, even then there may not be enough room, your tank is way overstocked, it will lead to aggression and other problems, I would suggest the texas cichlid and bp, maybe one convict, but you need to find homes for all the others, I dont like under gravel filters with parrots because they dig all of the time, diet? not feeder fish but live food like bloodworm once a week, try sinking and floating granules, cichlid pellets, catfish pellets frozen shelled peas a couple of times a week, welcome to the site
