Re: Jellbean Eggs' Hatching Time
i forgot to tell you that if you want closer to 100% survival, you should put a flower pot in with your pair when they are getting ready to spawn. then once the eggs are fertilized, remove the pot and put it in your 20 gallon. remove carbon from your filter, then add some rid ich or meth blue to keep fungus from growing on your eggs. rid ich has meth blue in it. put a slow moving airstone by the eggs and you will increase your survivors by ALOT.
Re: Jellbean Eggs' Hatching Time
it takes 3 days for them to hatch, then 3 days for them to consume their yolksacs, then it is time to feed them. for better growth and to keep water clean daily 25-50% water changes help. the powdered food makes a mess of the water. if you can try to feed them 4 to5 times daily until they are 1 month old or so.
jellybean eggs
About 6-10 days, young fish often eat their first few batches themselves, and if they are unfertilized they will usually eat them as they do in the wild ,to prevent fungused eggs spreading to healthy ones
Re: jellybean eggs
Thanks, but they just hatched last night! :) There was about 30 little babies in their last night. I started feeding flakes (crushed up into powder) but they are mainly staying down at the bottom in the hole that the parents dug out.
jellybeans
what are your plans for them?
Re: jellybeans
I will probably leave them in there for a few weeks with the parents
and then move the babies out into my smaller 29g to grow a little
longer before I start getting rid of them into new loving homes. The
LFS has also talked to me about buying some.
Re: jellybeans
I bet they're really cute.
