Jelly Bean Parrots

Hi,

My pair of jellybean parrots, (not the died ones, the actual breed, Blood Parrot x Convict Cichlid) had babies last September. 29 survived and are doing good, but my female jelly bean turned orange like she was going to lay eggs and never did. This happened a few times before I took out the babies (which aren't really babies anymore :) ) Wednesday. The male has went back to digging holes in their original tank and my female has turned completely BRIGHT orange. They were from a cross of a pink convict so they are normally a dull pink, but she is starting to hide more often and the male just keeps digging. Is there anything wrong with letting them breed again? I have plenty of space and people who have said they would take some from me.

Best Regards,
~ Kolton

Re: Jelly Bean Parrots

most of the "jelly bean parrots" are just short bodied pink convicts. there are some actual parrot/ con hybrids but, they are pretty rare and they look nothing like regular jelly beans.

Re: Re: Jelly Bean Parrots

That is what I was thinking when she gave them to me, but when I asked her, she said that she had bought them from another lady that had crossed a parrot and a pink convict.

Re: Jelly Bean Parrots

thanks. I didn't think it would, but I just wanted to make sure. The lady that gave the pair to me said that she had raised about 150 and had been giving them to folks. She decided that was tired of those fish so I got them before they got threw into a little tank with someone who didn't know what they were doing and died. The female is her beautiful shade BRIGHT neon orange so she will probably be laying eggs again...lol

I have been working on my site: http://www.freewebs.com/koltonsaquarium

Hi Kolton, where have you been? I dont think it will harm them to breed again as long as you have homes for them

Babies!! :)

Last night when I was feeding them I had about 30-40 little babies swimming around!  They are really cute.  Just about all you can see of them are their little pin-point sized eyes.  :)
