OMG---Someone PPPPPlease Help me with a Fluval 203!!!!!!!

I I'm setting up a 45 gal for the Jewels I posted about a few weeks ago. I bought it second hand for $50 it came with the tank, hood, and this fluval 203 filter. I have NEVER seen let alone used a canister filter. So I am trying to figure out what and how to put this 1 million pieced thing together. The fellow I bought it from said you had to put charcole in it but where???? I got the canister out and its in three sections that come apart 1. on bottom has like tan bolts in it 2. nothing is in it 3. has a spongy brownish filter. I have no idea were the hoses go or the thingy mabobs attach to and if something is supposed to go into slot 2. in the filter colume??? Ugh. What a head ache. I can't find nothing on the net about it. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

I have fluval 404 on both of my tanks and they are great filters but there is a lot to try and figure out. I suggest that you find the owner's manual online. You should be able to google it. that is what I had to do as I bought mine 2nd had as well.

fluval 203

found this site, it might help www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/manuals/fluve01.cfm - 12k ,I think charcoal and carbon do the same job,and apparently, if you have a thing called a "o ring" you have to make sure its in the right position (sounds painful!!!)hope it helps and doesn't confuse you even more
