male or female
It can be difficult to tell when they are immature, I think females may have a rounder body shape but really, without picking them up and turning them over (tricky!) you just have to wait and see, that's why there are so many males called "honey" and females called " nemo"
Re: male or female
we have sunny and cher. they are both males. junior is a female. she was supposed to be sunny jr, because sunny is getting old and i wasn't sure how long he would live. he is probably 5 or 6 now. once you learn the method of sexing them it is easy, but until you do, it is a mystery. the fin thing doesn't work at all. that was how i bought cher, the round finned male. junior i bought as a male, pointy fins, but she is female. once they get to about 3 - 4 inches, their tubes stick out enough to see without holding them. you wil be able to sex them in the store once you get it. shaz mentioned the method already so read her post to learn how to sex parrots.
